Ring Size Guide: How to Find Your Ring Size at Home

21/10/2026 | Esmeralda Jewels

The right fit makes a ring comfortable to wear every day. Here are three simple ways to find your size before you order.

Method 1: Measure a ring you already own

  1. Pick a ring that fits the finger you are buying for.
  2. Measure the inside diameter straight across, edge to edge, in millimeters.
  3. Find the closest match in the chart below.

Method 2: Measure your finger with string or paper

  1. Wrap a thin strip of paper or string around the base of your finger.
  2. Mark where it overlaps, then lay it flat and measure the length in millimeters. This is your circumference.
  3. Match it to the circumference column in the chart.

Method 3: Visit a jeweler

A jeweler can size you with professional ring sizers in a minute. This is the most accurate option, especially for wide bands.

Tips for an accurate size

  • Measure at the end of the day, when fingers are slightly larger, and not when your hands are cold.
  • If your knuckle is larger than the base of your finger, choose a size that slides over the knuckle.
  • Wide bands (6 mm and up) fit tighter. Consider going up a quarter or half size.
  • Between two sizes? Choose the larger one.
  • Buying a surprise? Borrow a ring they wear on the same finger, or ask a close friend or family member.
